William Rhodes

William Rhodes is an economist specializing in applied econometrics and program evaluation. He retired as principal scientist and fellow from Abt Associates Inc. in 2015. He is currently a principal at RGS CJ Analytics. Earlier in his career, Rhodes was the original research director at the U.S. Sentencing Commission, and before that, he was senior economist at the Institute for Law and Social Justice, and assistant professor at Florida State University. His clients have included the various branches of the U.S. Department of Justice, the Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts, and the Office of Detention Trustee.

Rhodes has designed and executed both random controlled trials and observational studies across diverse settings. Published and unpublished work includes applications of regression adjustments, propensity scores, difference-in-differences, instrumental variables, regression discontinuity design, and the synthetic control method. His most recent work has focused on competing events survival analysis.
