Aparea Smith was incarcerated at MCF-Shakopee for a drug- related offense. She participated in a treatment-based boot camp where she learned techniques to help her deal with the issues that led to her incarceration. Upon release from prison in 2013, Aparea began to do volunteer work and quickly enrolled at North Hennepin Community College.
Aparea is finishing her degree at Metropolitan State University, where she studies Psychology. Aparea is passionate about completing her education so she can help people facing similar struggles.
