Ronald P. Corbett Jr.

Ronald P. Corbett, Jr, EdD, was a project advisor for the Robina Institute’s Probation Revocation project, which focused on nationwide practice in the area of parole and probation revocations.

Corbett was acting commissioner of the Massachusetts Probation Department from 2011 to 2013. He was executive director of the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court from 2000 to 2011. Before this, he was second deputy commissioner of the Massachusetts Probation Service, having previously worked as a probation officer, assistant chief probation officer, regional director, and director of training and development. He is past president of the National Association of Probation Executives.

Corbett is a graduate of Harvard University (BA), Northeastern University (MS), and the University of Massachusetts (EdD). He has taught on a part-time basis since 1979 and currently serves as adjunct professor at the University of Massachusetts Lowell, teaching in the graduate program.

Corbett has published widely, including articles in Federal Probation, Corrections Today, and Justice Quarterly. He served as editor of Perspectives, the journal of the American Probation and Parole Association, and co-editor of the “Up to Speed” column in Federal Probation.

He is the recipient of the American Probation and Parole Association’s Sam Houston State University Award, the William Haskell Memorial Distinguished Teaching Award, the New England Council on Crime and Delinquency’s Manson-Robinson Award, and the Probation Executive of the Year Award from the National Association of Probation Executives.
